Akalewold Alemayehu

Akalewold Alemayehu is an Epidemiologist with 8 years of experience as an instructor and researcher in Hawassa University, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Hawassa, Ethiopia. He teaches Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Research Methods courses for health science students. In addition, he also advises public health master students thesis work at Hawassa University.

Akalewold had been served as evaluation team on Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) implementation research undertaken during 2016 to 2019 in collaboration with the regional health bureau Hawassa University.

Currently, Akalewold is coordinating Saving Little Lives (SLL) project at Hawassa University, one of the consortium University supporting implementation in SNNPR, Sidama and South west regions of Ethiopia. SLL is a large-scale project funded by the Global Financing Facility and coordinated by UNICEF Ethiopia. The project is designed to accelerate the scale-up of package of interventions for preterm and low birth weight babies across 290 hospitals in Ethiopia.
