I am Dr Gesit Metaferia Amaru, Pediatrician and neonatologist by profession. I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and child health at St Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College in the neonatal unit. I am the vice medical service head of the Pediatrics and Child health department at St Paul’s Hospital. I have mentored both undergraduate students and postgraduate students( Pediatrics residents and Neonatology fellowship) at St Paul’s Hospital. I am actively working with MOH and non-governmental organizations to improve the survival of newborns in our country, I am also a member of Technical working groups of newborn and Child Health at MOH. I have more than 15 peer-reviewed publications. Currently, I am a co-investigator for the ACS implementation research in Ethiopia. With my colleagues for the past 5 years, we have conducted different training for nurses, general practitioners, and pediatricians on newborn health and also conducted nationwide clinical mentorship on newborn care in collaboration with MOH and nongovernment organizations.
