Yalemwork Getnet Mengistu: Public Health Expert, Addis Ababa University
Yalemwork Getnet Mengistu is a Public Health Expert with a focus on maternal, child, and adolescent nutrition. With 8 years of teaching and research experience, she has established herself as a significant contributor to the field. Her academic journey includes a BSc. Degree and an MPH degree in public health.
Yalemwork has been actively involved in both teaching and research, imparting her knowledge to undergraduate and postgraduate students in nutrition courses related to public health and health sciences.
She served as a Co-Investigator in various projects, including a demonstration project evaluating the effectiveness of delivery modalities and the marginal cost of adolescent girls’ WIFAS and nutrition counseling program implementation in Ethiopia.
Yalemwork was also part of an implementation research project aiming to develop four model nutrition woredas in Ethiopia.
She contributed to the BUNMAP project, which focused on the economic, psychological, safety, and quality aspects of food and nutrition and their effects on pregnancy outcomes, child growth, and development.
Yalemwork currently serves as a formative research lead and Co-Investigator in the Integrating Immediate Kangaroo Mother Care (iKMC) into district hospitals with a level 2 neonatal intensive care unit: Implementation Research project. She is also a Co-Investigator in the Specialized Lactation Support (SLL) implementation research.
