I am Tesfaneh Shimels, holding a Master’s degree in Public Health with a specialization in Reproductive Health from Addis Ababa University, where I graduated with distinction in December 2022. Prior to this, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health from Jigjiga University in June 2017.
From September 2017 to 2019, I served as an assistant lecturer at Debre Tabor University, contributing to curriculum development, teaching, and research in public health and epidemiology. Since January 2013, I have held the position of lecturer at Debre Tabor University in the Reproductive Health department, actively engaging in teaching, research, project management, and data quality assurance.
Since September 2023, I have also served as a Data Quality Officer at the Center for Implementation Sciences (CIS) in Health, Addis Ababa University. In this role, I ensure data accuracy and reliability for health research, particularly in the Antenatal Corticosteroid Implementation Research Outcome project.
My research interests primarily focus on investigating breast cancer treatment initiation times at Tikur Anbessa Hospital from 2020 to 2022, providing valuable insights into cancer care in Ethiopia. I actively participate in various projects addressing healthcare challenges, including improving healthcare provider attitudes towards abortion, addressing sexual and reproductive health and rights challenges in the Amhara region, and implementing data quality assurance measures.
Continuously committed to professional development, I engage in training programs covering research methods, crisis management, and HIV treatment, ensuring I stay informed about emerging trends in public health.
Through my dedication, I significantly contribute to research, education, data quality assurance, and community health initiatives, shaping the future of healthcare in Ethiopia and beyond.
