The Center for Implementation Sciences (CIS) in Health at Addis Ababa University was delighted to welcome Laerdal Tore on 27 Nov 2023. In the morning the Saving Little Lives (SLL) university partners (Addis Ababa, Hawassa, Mekelle, and Emory Universities) shared with Tore the implementation progress, lessons learned and plan to reach the remaining hospitals in the seven regions that the project is being implemented. Tore shared with us the impressive learnings from the Safer Birth Bundle of Care (SBBC) project and discussed on opportunities for cross learning and integration of interventions across SLL, SBBC and NEST360.

In the afternoon Tore and the SLL partners met with HE Dr. Meseret Zelalem, the Ministry of Health Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Lead Executive Officer and her team. HE Dr. Meseret underlined that the ministry would use the SLL program as a foundation to add on additional new and existing evidence-based interventions targeting preterm and/or low-birth-weight infants. She commended the SBBC project for the impact it achieved in saving neonatal and maternal lives and suggested that the SLL team organizes an experience sharing learning with SBBC to draw lessons that could be replicated in the Ethiopia context.
